On netbsd-3, the Acrobat Reader 7 package worked for me after the
 following change:

 /emul/linux/opt/gnome/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 \
      > /emul/linux/etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules

 /emul/linux/opt/gnome/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders \
      > /emul/linux/etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders

Although the binary package had the proper files

 [hf@kalmit] /<1>pkg-stable/emulators > pax -zvf suse_gtk2-9.1nb3.tgz
 | grep etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0
pax: Trying to read GNU tar archive with extensions off
 -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1804 Oct 19 11:48
 emul/linux/etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
 -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2522 Oct 19 11:48
 emul/linux/etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders

my installation had zero-length files - either because the package
installation went amiss, or because some other package trashed the
 files.

I applied Chuck Silvers' patch first but it did not help, and seems
 not related.

The PR should be against the suse packages, and is IMHO misplaced in kern.
