I miss the `feature' that sysinst doesn't check the special access 
permissions of files installed. So when f.e. `ping' isn't installed with 
the correct permissions (due to unpacking with `tar xzf' f.e.) it doesn't 
fix this. This can give weird behaviour also in `X' when xterm f.e. can't 
update the wtmp.

Upgrade system with `tar xzf base.tgz' in root.
