 Generally, adding a period after a name is supposed to indicate that it
 is a FQDN, specifically so that it is not turned into
 localhost.myisp.de. I guess there is some problem in the name lookup
 though.
 
 I would guess that [127.0.0.1] is not used because of potential
 IPv6-only hosts.
