This seems to have worked, to the extent that I booted it using the
gxemul emulator like this:

gxemul -X -E hpc -e mobilepro880 netbsd

This simulated the same problem as 30590 before the patch, and now it
boots after applying this patch.

I won't be able to try it on "real" hardware until later today or
tonight (MST), sorry.
