Hello,
I've got exactly the same problem on this system ...
NetBSD sheridan.zhadum.de 3.99.7 NetBSD 3.99.7 (SHERIDAN) #0: Sun Jul 10 18:15:22 BST 2005 tron@lyssa.zhadum.de:/export/scratch/tron/build.18302a/sys/compile/SHERIDAN sparc64
... with this disk:
sd2 at scsibus1 target 0 lun 0: <IBM, DCAS-34330, S65A> disk fixed
sd2: 4134 MB, 8205 cyl, 6 head, 171 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 8467200 sectors
sd2: sync (50.00ns offset 15), 8-bit (20.000MB/s) transfers, tagged queueing
Any attempts to label the disk fail:
tron@sheridan:/home/tron#disklabel -R -r sd2 /var/tmp/tt
sd2: no disk label
Attempts to create filesystem on it fail, too:
tron@sheridan:/home/tron#newfs /dev/rsd2a
/dev/rsd2a: 128.2MB (262656 sectors) block size 8192, fragment size 1024
using 4 cylinder groups of 32.06MB, 4104 blks, 7936 inodes.
wtfs: write error for sector 262655: Undefined error: 0
The disklabel file is fine. It's copy of the disklabel from a NetBSD-sparc
machine which uses a disk of the same time:
sd0 at scsibus0 target 0 lun 0: <IBM, DCAS-34330, S65A> disk fixed
sd0: 4134 MB, 8205 cyl, 6 head, 171 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 8467200 sectors
sd0: sync (100.00ns offset 15), 8-bit (10.000MB/s) transfers, tagged queueing
root on sd0a dumps on sd0b
It is also *not* problem with the disk because I can label and newfs it
with Solaris 9 without problems.
Kind regards
