>Description:

Installation of NetBSD 2.0.2 fails on iMac G4 model M8672LL/B.
Specifically, it is not possible to go past the kernel loading
spinner. It spins, prints out one line of text similar to the line
below, the screen blanks and there is no more disk activity heard.

I'm not sure if this is related to a similar problem I've experienced
on the i386 platform and reported as NetBSD Problem Report #30878. I
also found this URL which seems related but unfortunately does not
address the root of the problem which is the bug that may be turning
off the backlight.

>How-To-Repeat:

Write ISO image of NetBSD 2.0.2 to CD-R. Insert CD-R into drive.
Boot iMac G4 into Open Firmware. Issue the correct boot command.
Watch the kernel begin to load and then wait for the screen to go
blank.
