Unfortunately, I don't know how to produce the error state (but I could
easily reproduce the panics once in that error state). It has now
happened two times with this system: early February, and mid-April.
Both times it happened when rebooting a new kernel while upgrading the
system. Both times it went away after running a patched kernel.
Both times the system had been running for over a month 24/7 with almost
no load.

From mid-April I have two forced crash dumps ('reboot 0x104' in ddb),
if that makes any difference. Unfortunately, debug options were not
turned on for the kernel. I'll turn them on now, and wait for new panics
(by trying to upgrade maybe once a week, or so).
