 I applied the indicated patch.  No luck.  I'm still getting a LOT of hits
 on this.  It appears to come and go; I can get 31 hits in 11 minutes, then
 nothing for a day.
 
 The machine is a production server, but I can put in test code as long as it
 won't make the machine hang; I'm okay with controlled reboots.
