A kernel with "abtn*   at adb?" will instantly power-off a Pismo when the brightness buttons on the keyboard are pressed.  And I mean instantly.  Also, it loses the date/time.

Obviously, the keys can be recognized, because when the sound buttons are pressed, the kernel says:
abtn0: volume setting not implemented

Press brightness up key several times in a row.  You might want to boot -s before trying this ;)

comment out abtn from kernel :(
