>Description:

Since the integration of gdb 5.3 into the base system, gdb no longer
functions when run under the emacs M-x gdb command.

>How-To-Repeat:

 - Install emacs from pkgsrc.

 - Start emacs by typing "emacs".

 - Type the emacs command M-x gdb <return>.

 - At the prompt "Run gdb (like this):", edit the response to
"/usr/bin/gdb /bin/sh" and press return (this will attempt to debug
/bin/sh, but any target program will do).

 - At the (gdb) prompt, type "help" and press return.

 - Notice that no help is printed, just a new prompt.

>Fix:

Not known. As a workaround, use the pkgsrc gdb instead.
