I have the similar problem on my O2 with an IBM disk:

ahc0 at pci0 dev 1 function 0
ahc0: interrupting at crime interrupt 8
ahc0: Host Adapter Bios disabled. Using default SCSI device parameters
ahc0: aic7880: Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 16/253 SCBs
scsibus0 at ahc0: 16 targets, 8 luns per target
 :
scsibus0: waiting 2 seconds for devices to settle...
scsibus1: waiting 2 seconds for devices to settle...
sd0 at scsibus0 target 1 lun 0: <SGI, IBM DORS-32160W, WA6A> disk fixed
sd0: fabricating a geometry
sd0: 2049 MB, 2049 cyl, 64 head, 32 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 4197405 sectors
sd0: sync (100.00ns offset 8), 16-bit (20.000MB/s) transfers, tagged queueing
 :
root on sd0a dumps on sd0b
sd0: fabricating a geometry
sd0: fabricating a geometry
sd0: fabricating a geometry
sd0: fabricating a geometry

Some IBM quirk issue?
