Use whole disk generates [1]:

(it also looks right for disks >8GB)

So I wonder what the bios is bleating about.

It could easily be fixed with the new mbr code.

[1] type ^Z to suspend the install as soon as it starts creating the
filesystems - does destroy the disk though.
