I've 384MB ram in my computer. I've been running NetBSD intensively in it
since 1.5ZA; now I have 1.6I and I've *no* crashes (despite some problems with
lfs)...

OTOH, I've a 486 with 8mb of ram that's giving LOTS of errors (but well,
memtest86 tells them)... I've to try to clean ram slots. BTW, the errors happen
with any os. Have you tried other os'es in that computer?
