The correct path has always been /etc/named.conf.

I believe there have been dicussions about changing this in the past
though -- most recently on tech-userlevel.  The consensus at that time
seemed to be that it should be left as /etc/named.conf.  There was some
discussion of moving the examples to /usr/share/examples/namedb, but I
don't know if there was any consensus on that.
