Dr. Nagler & Company GmbH
System: NetBSD test-s4 1.5.2 NetBSD 1.5.2 (NSW-Firewall) #2: Thu Nov 29 15:07:53 CET 2001 wgstuken@test-s4:/export/netbsd-1.5.2/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/NSW-Firewall i386

Even when raidctl -s report a clean parity just before rebooting the system (with the reboot command)
after reboot the parity is dirty on the raid device (raid1) which carries the root partition.
A time and io expensive reconstruction is needed that will slow down the machine for a while.
setup a system with root on raid and reboot it.
