My /etc/mk.conf includes:

Because of my /etc/mk.conf setting about manuals, 'make install' complains of 
no cat files.

$ make install
=> Checksum OK for aperture-2.0nb1/apNetBSD.shar.

install ===> xf86test
install -c  -r  -o root -g wheel -m 555  -s xf86test /usr/pkg/bin/xf86test
ls: /usr/pkg/man/cat4/xf86.0.gz: No such file or directory
ls: /usr/pkg/man/cat8/memconfig.0.gz: No such file or directory
===> fake-pkg [aperture-2.0nb1] ===> Registering installation for aperture-2.0nb1
pkg_create: can't stat `/usr/pkg/man/cat4/xf86.0.gz'
pkg_create: can't stat `/usr/pkg/man/cat8/memconfig.0.gz'

Set MANINSTALL=maninstall and/or MKCATPAGES=no in /etc/mk.conf.  Then, type 
'make install'.
