Athlon 1GHz, 256MB, Java is not installed (see the pb description)

System: NetBSD 1.5.2 NetBSD 1.5.2 (TITINE-20010914) #1: Sat Sep 15 00:47:17 CEST 2001 i386

When i try to create the package index, via 'make index', the process start, 
then, after 30 minutes (!), the following message appears :

# make index
Generating INDEX - please wait..
[30 mn later...]
Variable JAVA_HOME is recursive.
make: *** /usr/pkgsrc/INDEX removed

The process still runs, but nothing seems happen and that's definitively too 
long for an Athlon, so i SIGTERM it...

  # cd /usr/pkgsrc
  # make index
