More info...

After rebuilding asn1_compile, then restarting the "make build", asn1_compile
is corrupted by the time the build reaches the point where it must run it
again.

MD5 (asn1_compile) = 3e4b020baad30e7865090bd0242bc155
[run "make UPDATE=1 build" in another window]
cp1500-1:thorpej 25$ md5 asn1_compile  
MD5 (asn1_compile) = 2f41733bb9753e096fddedf00772cb1a

This is 100% reproducible.
