All recent (within 3 years) models have a GMAC type of internal ethernet device. For some reason, it is commented out of the INSTALL kernel, meaning that users cannot netboot or download distribution sets over ethernet on these models, when installing.
Also, please take a look at PR 10779, it is almost a year old, and should be easy to fix.
Boot an Open Firmware 3 machine with the INSTALL kernel
Uncomment the gm0 line from INSTALL, but this might make the kernel too big for the boot floppy.
