System: NetBSD polaris 1.5_ALPHA2 NetBSD 1.5_ALPHA2 (POLARIS) #1: Wed Dec 13 00:45:28 MST 2000 root@polaris:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/POLARIS i386

>Description:
Upgraded machine from 1.3 to 1.5 with sysinst. machine attempted to boot
and was found to be totally unbootable from the BIOS. (i386).
In order to fix this, I had to use fdisk to set the partition active, and
write the MBR out again.

Included is my fdisk output:
NetBSD disklabel disk geometry:
cylinders: 16383 heads: 16 sectors/track: 63 (1008 sectors/cylinder)

BIOS disk geometry:
cylinders: 1023 heads: 16 sectors/track: 63 (1008 sectors/cylinder)

Partition table:
0: <UNUSED>
1: <UNUSED>
2: <UNUSED>
3: sysid 169 (NetBSD)
    start 63, size 1032129 (503 MB), flag 0x80
        beg: cylinder 0, head 1, sector 1
        end: cylinder 1023, head 15, sector 63

>How-To-Repeat:
Upgrade, reboot, cry.

>Fix:
Sysinst should make sure if there is only one netbsd parition on the disk,
that it is marked active.
