Gnats burp?

I have nothing to do with any of the prs from 9715 to 9758, I'm just
resending copies to the netbsd-bugs list since it didn't catch them during
the gnats move. A couple had already been flagged as "gnats burps" and
closed, apparently this one hadn't been noticed yet.

Unfortunately, due to the reverse DNS problems (causing pretty much every
mail server that mail.netbsd.org connects to to wait for a reverse DNS
lookup to timeout before continuing with the SMTP transfer, and some to
reject the mailings entirely due to the failed lookup), the mailing lists
are _at best_ extremely sluggish, and I've only seen evidence of ten of
the thirty or so resends having made it back out (at least to as far down
on the netbsd-bugs list as my mail2news gateway address is...)

Though it doesn't necessarily look like it's redbacknetworks.com's
problem: whois.arin.net returns ns3.redback.com (155.53.1.2) and
edns.redback.com (155.53.1.1) as inverse mapping servers for 155.53.1.253.
{a,d,e,f,g,i}.root-servers.net agree with this. And these two servers
return valid reverse mappings for 155.53.1.253.

Only {c,h}.root-servers.net disagree, giving ns{1,3}.redbacknetworks.com
as the inverse mapping servers, neither of which is pingable.

(b.root-servers.net timed out...)

So it looks like PSINet (operates c.root-servers.net) and the Army
Research Lab in Aberdeen, MD (operates h.root-servers.net) need to get
their acts together... :)
