I would say the correct fix to this bug is to completely ignore the
totally ancient and long brain dead version of host included in the BIND
source distribution and instead turn directly to the currently
maintained version available either in the BIND contrib collection
(slightly out of date), or the original source at:
ftp://ftp.nikhef.nl/pub/network/host.tar.Z
If any bugs remain in this version they're sure to be fixed in the next
release, at least if they're reported.
The old 'host' has many other bugs, problems, and severe limitations,
not to mention a serious lack of real features! ;-)
