Yup, you are right. I remade the tree with BUILD and UPDATE set to 1
in /etc/mk.conf, which did not lead to a rebuild of gas. After explicitly
doing a `make cleandir` and rebuilding gas I was able to compile it.
I already closed the pr, sorry for the noise.
