i386 486sx 33 MHz laptop, 8 MB ram

>Description:
When booting with the 1.4 boot floppy, the kernel finds a
wdc0, its one drive as wd0, then wdc1, wd1, and wd2. There is
no wdc1, wd1, or wd2. The non-existant drives come out with some
default parameters which make them 68 MB.

This may or may not be the cause of hanging after install.
>How-To-Repeat:
Occurs at every boot up. Worse, need to wait about 10-15 minutes
for the install script to get done failing on the non-existant
drives.

Others mentioned this in the port-i386 mailing list on 05/01/99.
