System: NetBSD asparagus 1.3.3 NetBSD 1.3.3 (ASPARAGUS) #4: Mon Dec 28 17:18:16 CET 1998 mjl@asparagus:/home/temp/devel/kernel/sys/arch/i386/compile/ASPARAGUS i386

>Description:
As I understand it, putting variable things in /var should enable
us to mount the root fs read-only. However, this does not work out
since /etc still contains some files that are regularly changed,
for example /etc/dumpdates, /etc/skeykeys.

>How-To-Repeat:
  Try to mount / ro.

>Fix:
Move dumpdates, skeykeys et al out of /etc?
