NetBSD has no popd.  As it's really a pretty simple protocol to implement,
and a pretty useful one, too, why not incorporate one into the tree?

I've written a popd which is currently public-domain, though only released
to about 3 people.  I'd be perfectly willing to donate a copy to the cause,
and maintain it as bugs are discovered or features asked for.
