Me neither, as far as I recall - I just tried it and found it was
already there; I didn't recall seeing it go in.

I wasn't in Munich (sigh!)...I dunno; I haven't searched back to see
when it went in.

route allows specification of netmasks; remember the commands with
which I added the routes in question?

ifconfig...well, ifconfig allows netmask specifications for both
primary addresses and aliases, even as far back as about 1.2.1ish
(though ifconfig doesn't _print_ alias addresses; you have to use
netstat -i to see them, AFAIK).

What more would you like to see in either one?  (Well, I'd like to see
ifconfig print alias addresses, myself...maybe I'll add that.)
