	alpha

>Description:

When I boot my alpha with a GENERIC kernel, it crashes after probing
the de interface, at line 1474 of if_de.c. If I recompile the kernel
with TULIP_DEBUG the if statement at line 1471 catches the error.
With TULIP_DEBUG turned on the probe prints:

    de0 at pci0 dev 12 function 0 at isa irq 5
    de0: preset: bad media 8!
    de0: SMC 9332DST 21140 [10-100Mb/s] pass 1.2
    de0: address00:00:c0:39:1a:e4
    de0: enabling 10baseT port
