>Description:
My configuration: A4000 with Fastlane Z3 SCSI controller,
Quantum Fireball and Sony CDU 55 CD ROM drive.
The OS stucks if the two devices are used. If only one is
used, everything is ok. It's possible to boot from the hard disk and
work for hours and hours and no problem occur; similar if I boot from
CD ROM and work for a while (about 10 minutes or so) all systems
work.
But if I use both drives simultanous they stop operation. And
I mean "simultanous": it is possible to boot from hd, mount the cd,
and copy a small file into the /tmp (ram). But it's impossible to copy
files from cd to hd.
It's impossible to stop such a copy process. The only thing I
can do is rebooting.
>How-To-Repeat:
Buy an A4000, a Fastlane, a Quantum Fireball and a Sony CDU
55. Install the NetBSD-current (May, 11th) on the Fireball. Type:
mount -r -t cd9660 /dev/cd0c /mnt/cdrom
cd /mnt/cdrom
cd to a dir where exists a (large) file.
alternative 1) cp this file to hd
the OS hold, it's impossible to do other things with hd and cd,
reboot and hope the fsck will repair all the damage.
alternative 2) cp this file to /tmp (ram)
if the file is bigger than your amount of RAM, it will start swapping,
the OS hold, it's impossible to do other things with hd and cd,
reboot and the fsck will set the file systems clean flag (no repair
needed)
