I don't know about that, but the previous mt worked without problems -
althoug just compiling the old mt source does not help as well, there
seems do be a dependence to the recent scsi/st changes.

My impression is that `mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf 1` trys to _write_ something
that destroyes the previous archive markers. Just a guess.
