One could argue, as purely a side topic, that /tmp _shouldn't_ be useful 
for humans.  For me, it's a non-issue, since I use an MFS /tmp.

(On most machines here, /tmp is on a disk and is often quite overgrown 
and useless to humans anyway.  Saving all that trash across reboots seems 
somewhat silly to me.  If they wanted it, they ought to keep it in $HOME...)
