Uh oh.  At least I can say that I have a nasty cold, and it's affecting 
my concentration.

The previous diff is against v1.61 of sys/dev/isa/com.c, and I have been 
testing various versions of it.  I've had no problems with 16550s or my 
weird SMC chip, and have tested it with 16550s on an AST board, as well.
