The following command (run as root):

	find . -print | cpio -oac | dd bs=16k > /dev/rst0

normally works well to steam a tape device...
On port-sparc (kernel was -current on Friday March 24 but earlier
kernels showed same behaviour)
It often as not results in:

sd0(esp0:3:0): timed out
sd0(esp0:3:0): timed out
sd0(esp0:3:0): timed out

and the need to reboot.
