Changes to the NetBSD Packages Collection in June 2000
======================================================

Please note that the wu-ftpd package (pkgsrc/net/wu-ftpd) should be
upgraded to the latest version (2.6.0nb1) because of what may be a
security vulnerability (a buffer overflow problem).  Personally, I
find that most people run the standard ftpd that comes with NetBSD,
but there's no accounting for (lack of) taste...

In June, the pkgsrc infrastructure was changed to track the standard
libtool more closely, and rely on the modified libtool as little as
possible.  This work continues.

Notable additions to pkgsrc include:  amavis, arla, caml-light,
cross-i386-cygwin32, gnome-applets, various SGML DTDs, jpilot,
libole2, olvwm, pkgdiff, SDL, uvscan, vttest, whowatch, xbin, xdm-krb4
and xscreensaver-gnome.

Notable updates to packages in the packages collection include: adzap,
analog, ap-jserv, bind9, boost, delegate, docbook, elm, emacs, ethereal,
gd, gdbm, gettext, ggv, glade, gmake, gmp, gnome, gnucash, gnumeric,
gphoto, gtop, jdbc-postgresql, leim, libtool, lrzsz, lsof, micq,
minicom, mswordview, mutt, netpbm, nntpcache, openldap, openssh, pchar,
ptl, qt21, racoon, slib, sudo, transfig, uvscan, vim, w3m, wu-ftpd,
wwwoffle, xfig, xscreensaver and zebra.

The Package of the Month Award goes to pchar (pkgsrc/net/pchar), a
reimplementation of the pathchar utility, written by Van Jacobson,
which characterizes the bandwidth, latency, and loss of links along an
end-to-end path through the Internet.  Both IPv4 and IPv6 networks are
supported. Thanks to Soren S. Jorvang for the nomination. Any other
