BSDCon 2000

We are pleased to announce BSDCon 2000, the second annual BSD Conference 
and Expo! If you are a BSD user, this is the event you don't want to miss. 
There will be BSD-related tutorials, talks, demos, discussions, and 
exhibitor booths. 

Many BSD users and developers from all over the world will be present to 
share ideas, find common interest points, and develop new ideas--as a 
single community. All BSD users are welcome and encouraged to attend and 
participate. 

Pricing information is as follows: 

Conference (Oct. 18-20): $495 Tutorial 1 (Oct. 14-15): $495 Tutorial 2 
(Oct. 16-17): $495 Room rates at the Hyatt: $129 US per night 

There is a $50 early-bird discount off each if you register before 
September 1, 2000. Any registrations after September 1, 2000 will be 
charged full price.

ICS Unveils First Distribution of Open Motif

Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS), the leading commercial supplier 
of Motif products and support, announced the immediate availability of 
Open Motif Everywhere, the first distribution of Open Motif for open 
systems. This announcement occurs concurrently with the announcement by The 
Open Group(TM) that it is making Open Motif, the industry standard toolkit 
for user interfaces on UNIX systems, freely available for open source 
operating systems such as Linux and FreeBSD. 

Open Motif Everywhere has been tested on the following distributions: Corel 
(Intel), FreeBSD (Intel), Linux PPC 2000 (PPC), Mandrake (Intel), Red Hat 
(Intel, Sparc, Alpha), Slackware (Intel), Storm 2000 (Intel), SuSE (Intel), 
and TurboLinux (Intel).

Driver for video capture and TV tuner cards (Brooktree 848 based)

NetBSD-current now includes the bktr driver, supporting video capture 
(frame grabber) and TV tuner cards based on the Brooktree Bt848, Bt848A, 
Bt849A, Bt878 and Bt879 chips. ... 

The driver (originally written by Amancio Hasty for FreeBSD) was changed to 
use device accesses through bus_space, and can thus be used on all 
PCI-platforms, such as i386, alpha, bebox, cobalt, or macppc; though at the 
moment it has only been tested on i386.

TUCOWS Launches UNIX Themes

TUCOWS.com is pleased to announce the latest collection of desktop themes 
software, UNIX Themes. Users can either download complete themes or create 
their own by compiling sounds, background pictures and icons. Formerly part 
of TUCOWS Linux Themes, TUCOWS UNIX Themes now supports all Unix-based 
Operating Systems from Linux and Unix to Solaris and BSD. 

In addition to more than 4,000 themes, the site includes theme development 
software and instructions for downloading and installing themes. A screen 
shot and a description of each theme item is found on the site so that the 
users are sure to get exactly what they desire before download. Users have 
the opportunity to submit their theme creations to be showcased as the 
``Coolest Theme of the Week''. Each month, a list of the top downloaded 
UNIX themes from the site is also published.
