I'm intrigued.  Does this mean that it might *still* be cost efficient
to mask CPUs today with early 80s-era tech (I'm assuming you're
talking about LSI vs. VLSI)?  Some of those early CPUs were kind of
neat in their sparse-but-elegant design.
