Just browsing for something at the Yahoo site[1], I happened upon an
Operating Systems section[2].  Amongst the OS titles proudly included
in that list are both Linux and FreeBSD[3].  NetBSD does get a entry,
but only below "Operating Systems: Unix: BSD: NetBSD"!

Might it be a nice idea, from an advocacy point of view, for NetBSD to
get equivalent billing, i.e. at the same level, as the other free
OSes?

I poked about at Yahoo, looking for some means of notifying the admin
staff there of my concern, so that I might request that a NetBSD entry
be made in that top level Operating System category (like at least
FreeBSD and Linux), but I got stumped at a point where it seems that
Yahoo want the onus for requesting these changes to fall on the owner
of the site in question (unless I've completely misunderstood Yahoo's
intent, which might be likely!).

Might some www.netbsd.org wizard easily make such a request of Yahoo?

I have no idea how NetBSD is standing at any of Yahoo's peers; it
might be worth looking into the next time you pay a visit to your
favourite banner palace.

Just out of interest, a Yahoo site-wide search for (in alphabetical
order):

  - FreeBSD yields 2 Yahoo categories[4] and 94 URL matches;
  - Linux yields 21 Yahoo categories[5] and 814 URL matches;
  - NetBSD yields 1 Yahoo category[6] and 17 URL matches, and
  - OpenBSD yields 1 Yahoo category[7] and 7 URL matches.
