That is a really old version of SilverLining--approximately 5 years old or
more. You may want to see about upgrading to SilverLining 5.5.4/20 which is
the latest version. I'm currently waiting for LaCie to come out with the
SCSI 4.3 compliant driver for the speedups it should provide.

There's no guarantee that will solve your problem, but I wouldn't be
surprised if that is contributing to it.
