I must agree here.  I dont think that a menu bar should be placed in the
kernel.  kernels are big enough already.

However, I do like the idea of a cpu activity and memory usage monitor
in the last couple lines of the display.  this idea shouldn't use too much
ram (in fact, it would guess it would use less space than a complete seperate
process to do this)
