on the i386, gcc no longer defines __386BSD__.

we warned people that this was going to happen a *long* time ago...

basically, on the i386, the following symbols are defined by default:

i386
__NetBSD__
unix


the latter is only defined because a lot of programs out there
apparently expect it to be...
