MAKEDEV.local revision 1.12 would have created /dev/foo and /dev/foo1.
Please try updating to MAKEDEV.local revision 1.13 (and if you already
have /dev/foo*, please delete them).

I'd like to know the exact error message and other nearby output. What
version of MAKEDEV.tmpl was involved?
