Hint: Please don't top post when taking part in a discussion.
Instead of dumping NIS, the lookup for root's group membership should be
made an option, defaulting to off. Furthermore, there should be a
timeout-and-ignore option for nsswitch.conf, to at least have the option of
avoiding indefinite hangs.
