Given this is turned on by default in many libraries and other programs,
I think this is worthy of a HEADS-UP in current-users, and entries in
src/doc/CHANGES and src/UPDATING (I would say an UPDATE=yes build would
not work).

[Maybe this is already planned and has just been stalled for some reason?]
