The following is from an Intel iMac a friend was kind to provide:

if it may be of any help. I guess it may be closer to the Mac Mini.

I managed to get sound from my HP nx6310 with

mixerctl -w outputs.lineout.eapd=on

via the usual trial-and-error process - I haven't a clue what eapd
means... I would be interested what if anything can be done knowing
the pinout though.
