I've given up for some time the attempts to build.sh over non-empty
obj and target directories (I also always do a 'make cleandir' before
'cvs up -dPA'). I haven't had much trouble lately building full
releases this way for both i386 and amd64.

Not such a big deal to leave the build machine compile everything from
scratch overnight...
