Hello.

I have an Intel P4 processor and used to have i386 -current which
worked perfectly. I thought i should try amd64 to see if 64bit had
performance gain.

Now, i can't get the X server work.
My xorg.conf is the same as the one i used when i had the i386 version
so it is not the conf's prob (although i checked it for mistakes)

The Xorg.0.log mentions no error.

If i run Xorg the X server works fine (i can't do anything of course).

If i run anything else it crashes with signal 10.
I have tried
a) running startx with windowmaker xinitrc -> leads to wmaker.core
b) running startx with default xinitrc -> leads to
{twm,xclock,xterm}.core
c) running xinit -> leads to xterm.core

I have tried the following command "gdb command -c command.core" for
the above scenarios (e.g gdb wmaker -c wmaker.core)

The output of the gdb is the following:

This GDB was configured as "x86_64--netbsd"...(no debugging symbols
found)... Core was generated by `xclock'.
Program terminated with signal 10, Bus error.
Reading symbols from /usr/pkg/lib/libfontconfig.so.1...
(no debugging symbols found)...done.

(gdb) quit

I ran Xorg only after i had compiled many stuff from pkgsrc,
so i thought that i may messed something up, so i installed
NetBSD amd64 to a second disk and tried to compile only
the necessary packages for X.
Again the same thing.

My uname output is the following:

NetBSD hostname 3.99.22 NetBSD 3.99.22 (mykern) #0: Sun Jul 16 19:56:46 EEST 2006
root@hostname:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/mykern amd64

I use the latest pkgsrc cvs as of now (time of writing this).

I also attach the dmesg output for anyone who may make something out of it.

I would be grateful if you could tell me what is the problem.
If it is something concerning 64bit or is it my mistake.

P.S the compile of all the necessary packages went fine.

I am sorry for the long post and thank you for your time.
