Yes, indeed.

A big caveat though: if you use the broken (can't switch consoles) kernel
with a softdep mounted filesystem ("soft dependencies" in the mount output),
you should sync and carefully reboot *ASAP* with a fixed kernel - softdeps
do not work in those kernels either.
