Are you sure your startup scripts are running '/sbin/wsconsctl -d -w  
splash.enable=0' at some point? If so, please verify that src/sbin/ 
wsconsctl/display.c is version 1.13 and that you're running the  
latest version.

You should also be able to switch screens (Ctrl+Alt+F2, etc) to get a  
login prompt. vesafb only draws on the console screen.
