How odd - I have a Synaptics touch pad in my fujitsu S7020 and it
works without a problem for me, has done so ever since I installed
NetBSD.

Looks the same:

wskbd0 at pckbd0: console keyboard, using wsdisplay0
pms0 at pckbc0 (aux slot)
pms0: Synaptics touchpad version 5.9
pms0: Palm detect, Multi-finger
pckbc0: using irq 12 for aux slot
wsmouse0 at pms0 mux 0

All the same on my machine... what do you have in your X config for
the pointer?
