I hate to do a 'me too' but I am definitely interested in the status of
work to make acpi as functional as apm for this kind of thing. 

The word used to be 'we're still looking at the infrastructure code'
and also 'it has to be MD'

while most laptops are either ppc or intel-derived, the sh3 and other
mobile device cloud would probably also want this kind of stuff.

I am (like steve I think) apm only for now.
